Red Velvet Milky Way Cake Cookies

From Picky Palate.

My verdict: Thumbs Down

These cookies are awesomely delicious, even though I did run into a problem during the preparation. I didn’t realize that cake mixes come in two sizes (15oz & 18oz) so I just grabbed the red velvet one that looked best. Because of this, I had to add a little water to my mix to make sure that it was wet enough. Make sure you purchase the 15oz box! I also put some batter in mini muffin pans to have a variety of shapes and sizes.

  • 1 box Red Velvet Cake Mix (15oz)
  • 1 stick Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 4 Full Size Dark Milky Way Bars
  • 1-1/2 cup Mini Chocolate Chips

Step 1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line a large baking sheet with a silpat liner or parchment paper.
Step 2 Place cake mix, butter, egg and oil into a large mixing bowl. Stir to combine. Cut up Milky Way bars into chunks and stir into dough along with the chocolate chips.
Step 3 Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheet placing about 1 inch apart. Press each cookie down almost flat about 1/2 inch thick. Bake for 11-13 minutes, until baked through. Let cool on baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.
